Monckton Grit Arrestment System Close to Commissioning

The Integrated Coke Guide and Hood Machine for Monckton Coke and Chemicals is getting closer to the final commissioning stage. The new system will perform the removal of grit/emissions from the fugitive gases present during an oven push.

“The Monckton Coke project is progressing really well”, says Brian Nicoll, the Project Manager, “and we have just completed the on-site mechanical, electrical and hydraulic installation“. The Monckton Machine was completely assembled and tested in the factory in Arbroath, so that the on-site installation time was significantly reduced.  The 3rd rail structure, which supports the machine at the coke oven battery, was also successfully installed last November.

“The commissioning of the Integrated System started on the first week of January”, adds Brian “and the machine was put into operation Mid January 2012. We estimate the final completion of the cold/hot commissioning and training to take place early February. The Monckton Coke battery operators are looking forward to the modern features we incorporated into this system, which will perform the removal of the grit/emissions from the fugitive gases present during an oven push. The JMH Integrated Coke Guide and Hood Machine will have a significant positive impact on the plant’s environmental performance, and also on its productivity”.
