JMH at the 34th International Cokemaking Conference, Czech Republic

John M Henderson was invited to give a presentation at the prestigious International Cokemaking Conference organized in November in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Czech Republic.

The conference featured cokemaking representatives from Eastern and Central Europe and highlighted the latest developments in the cokemaking industry, as well as important issues affecting those who work with metallurgical coke.

John M Henderson was represented by Oana Niculita, the Marketing Manager, who gave a presentation on the most relevant engineering and technical challenges that John M Henderson has addressed during more than 60 years of research and development in the coke making industry.

A long established expertise in cokemaking allowed John M Henderson to develop The Next-Generation Coke Oven Machine, totally automated to eliminate human risks and maximize productivity, equipped with state-of-the-art environmental protection systems to perform to the highest standard of emission control and customized to answer each coke plant particular specifications and challenges.

Oana’s presentation offered a retrospective on the development of coke oven machinery, highlighting some of the engineering challenges experienced by John M Henderson during the implementation of large-scale technical projects, and the innovative solutions developed to address them. The challenges considered are: operational (installation issues, tight project timescales), engineering (special battery layout, unique plant configurations), environmental (complying with tough legislation standards) or automation related (performing manless operation, managing misalignment).

John M Henderson’s technical solutions were commended by the Conference audience, which gathered this year more than 150 representatives from leading coke, coal and steel companies from 19 different countries.
