Slipway Manufacturing – a long recognized JMH Capability

Since its establishment in 1866, John M Henderson has developed a long recognized footprint in slipway manufacturing and installations. The company has supplied slipway systems and associated equipment to Glasgow, Lerwick, Macduff, Peterhead, Nigeria and Egypt.

As recognition of its quality workforce, facilities and as a tribute to its long term engagement with the Scottish community, John M Henderson has been continuously involved in manufacturing slipways all around Scotland and Scottish island piers.

One of the latest projects delivered is the manufacturing of a slipway system for Stornoway Pier and Harbour Commissioners, to replace an installation originally supplied by John M Henderson in 1952. The project involved slipway installations to be used in the repair and maintenance of ships up to 800 tonnes and includes the manufacture, installation and commissioning of the complete system.

John M Henderson have implemented many technical improvements to the original installation in 1952 including the modern hydraulic bilge arms, which increase the harbours’ capacity and allow a faster and improved turnaround.
